Grand European Tour Cruise Reviews 2024 Amsterdam to Budapest Viking®

viking river cruise review

We celebrated Hannah’s 13th birthday on Viking Spirit. The entire staff was wonderful and they made Hannah feel special. This was my fifth Viking trip and we can’t wait to travel again with this company. They choose the least expensive flight options, meaning the flights were at the worst times – either very early morning (i.e., 6 AM’ish) or very late flights. We opted to extend our stay in Europe after the cruise. Viking offers both pre and post extensions, which are a fun way to see more of Europe and combine the best of both worlds (guided group tours with individual trips).

Next port going north on the Danube would be Bratislava, Slovakia. Fishermen’s Bastion, built between 1895 and 1902, the beautiful towers and covered terrace weren’t built to defend the territory but to provide unparalleled views of the city. We had ample time to wander along the terrace and up to the Neo-Romanesque designed towers. This is the prime photo op location for sweeping vistas of Budapest. A mid-afternoon boarding gave guests plenty of time before dinner to explore this spirited yet somewhat austere city, either on their own or with a Viking tour excursion.

Businesses

We usually had the lighter continental breakfast, but it was the exact same food every day. When the ships were docked right next to each other, passengers from the far ship had to go through the lobby on the near ship to get to the dock. For this aspect, I give this Viking River Cruise review an A+. Passengers arrive at various times throughout the day, and the check-in procedure is straightforward.

Pathways of the Pharaohs Cruise Reviews

Despite its generally casual feel, jeans and shorts are not permitted at dinner. For our flights, we took advantage of Viking’s flight booking service. We set fare alerts and browsed for flights on our own, and after comparing it to the Viking customer service rep, found that they were able to get us a better deal. If you like to socialize and want a formal 3-course menu dinner, try the formal dining room on the main floor. The ships are well designed to really maximize space and cabins feature a giant closet and tons of drawers to put away your clothes, should you wish to fully unpack.

We ended up leaving one tour to explore Lyon on our own, which ended up being the better option. Every evening you will find a daily newsletter for the next day’s activities. There is a shuffle board and putting green, that many of the cruisers on our ship enjoyed. Along our route, we also had excellent cell service with our American telecom providers. Be sure to contact them prior to your travel to determine the ability to use your phone overseas.

Day 3: Strasbourg, France

I was tired but excited to finally have a chance to walk across Budapest’s historic Chain Bridge. In First Class on trains in Europe, you’ll find many English-speaking passengers from North America. It was easy to strike up conversations with fellow travelers and the eight hours quickly passed.

Viking River Cruises provides a choice of complimentary wines, beer, and soft drinks during lunch and dinner. The bar area includes a bar, lounge type tables and chairs, dance floor, and a piano which was usually played in the evening. It includes a choice of starters, main courses, and dessert.

Which is the Best European River Cruise?

It includes a calendar of activities and excursions, meal times, and where you will be each day. This is useful as you will usually wake up in a different place than where you were when you went to bed. Otherwise people read, enjoyed the sun, or enjoyed a glass of wine as we cruised down the Rhone river. We also dropped pins for the ship’s location when we arrived at a port and went off exploring on our own. There is also the option to purchase the Silver Spirits upgrade package, which includes premium wines, cocktails, etc.

New Emerald Waterways Active Excursions for 2018 Europe River Cruises

I’ve had to run to catch the bus on more than one occasion. I had about an hour to get acquainted with my cabin and Viking Lif river ship before the first pre-dinner meeting. By the time I arrived at the ship in the late afternoon, other passengers had already unpacked and were mingling about the vessel. They had enough time for a short city tour and were enjoying cocktails in the lounge.

Afterwards, everyone was really quiet on the motor coach back to the ship. It had been a busy, long day from one end of the city to another. Then you hear a 5-minute warning for your motor coach departure. The tour departure time that’s posted is not when you should walk out of your stateroom.

At first glance, including a Viking River Cruise review on a blog dedicated to RV travel might seem a bit unusual. For any cruises listed, Cruise Critic does not guarantee any specific rates or prices. In addition, average cruise prices are updated nightly. You will need to pay extra for tips, laundry and additional shore excursion offerings. On vessels with hair or spa services, or any retail offerings, you'll need to pay extra for these as well.

I divided my Viking Grand European Tour river cruise into two parts. Viking Skadi, on its way south from Amsterdam, couldn’t get past Nuremberg for the same reason. The restaurant is usually packed with tourists throughout the summer but this rainy October day, I had no problem getting my own indoor table. Once you’ve finished your beer and extras, take a walk across the Old Stone Bridge. Built between 1135 and 1146, it was the bridge used by the knights on the second and third Crusades to the Holy Land.

Cruises from Galveston Galveston Cruises

Sprinkle in a few museums, amusement parks, attractive beaches and tasty seafood restaurants, and you’ve got a great start to your cruise from Galveston. Princess® returns to Galveston, sailing once again from this city tucked within a quaint Gulf Coast barrier island. The port says it expects more than 1 million cruise passengers in 2023, which would break the previous record from 2019. Those passengers will come from 362 sailings during the year, or roughly an average of one cruise ship a day. Its arrival marks a major milestone for the Port of Galveston and Texas cruising. In just over 20 years (less than the life of a cruise ship) the port has gone from being a sleepy departure point to the largest cruise port outside of Florida and the fourth-busiest in the nation.

Galveston, Texas

Set sail from a historic jewel in the Gulf of Mexico on Carnival cruises out of Galveston, Texas. Perched on the Gulf Coast, Galveston was a major commercial port in the late 1800s and has the restored architecture and proud history to show for it. Galveston’s long seawall stretches from beach to beach and offers gulf views the whole way.

Prices start at $524 per person (without taxes and fees) and there are 30 sailings to choose from. These are 7-night cruises that visit ports of call at Roatan, Costa Maya, and Cozumel before returning back to port. Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas is a 2009 Oasis-class ship that is offering sailings now through the end of October out of Galveston. Because of its location along the perimeter of the Caribbean Sea, this Texas cruise port is home to many popular lines and ships.

She will return to Galveston in October 2024 for a second season sailing from Texas. Keep in mind that these are just a few of the incredible places Royal Caribbean can take you to when you book a cruise from Texas. Check out all the different itineraries available here — you’ll find plenty to fit your schedule, from short getaways to weeklong adventures. In addition to convenience and security, another benefit of using the official port parking is competitive pricing.

Norwegian Cruise Line is another popular option for those departing from Texas. They offer a variety of itineraries, including trips to the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America. Some of their most popular ships include the Norwegian Joy and the Norwegian Breakaway, both of which offer a wide range of dining and entertainment options. In recent years, Texas cruise ports have faced some challenges due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the ports have adapted to the changing circumstances and have implemented measures to ensure the safety of passengers and crew. The 2013 Royal-class ship is the 2nd of its class and offers 20 sailings during it’s homeport in Texas.

Princess Cruises Details New Exclusive Ship-Within-a-Ship Spaces

One of my favorite ships, Allure Of The Seas currently cruises out of Galveston. Regal Princess will be sailing out of Galveston starting in November of 2023 through March of 2024. The April 11-day sailing will stop at the ABC islands of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao. It’s a great ship from Carnival and was voted best new cruise ship in 2016 when it debuted. Royal Caribbean's new Cruise Terminal 3's parking lots (, South, and Pier 14) are priced US$22/day (North Lot) and US$20 per day (at South Lot and Pier 14 Lot).

The rates are reasonable compared to other nearby alternatives, allowing you to save money without compromising on quality service. Whether you choose an interior stateroom or splurge on a lavish suite with panoramic views and personal butler service, expect nothing less than exceptional comfort throughout your stay. Always consult with your cruise line on travel requirements for your entire party prior to booking or boarding. Take to the indoors with a museum visit or go fishing under the Texan sun along one of the Seawall’s many piers.

The 142,229-gross-ton, Royal-class Regal Princess features 19 decks and amazing features, including the glass-floor SeaWalk that extends 28 feet beyond the ship’s edge for thrilling views. The ship also offers spectacular entertainment, including the Watercolor Fantasy Show, live music, and outstanding production shows. Of special note is the December 3, 2023 sailing, a themed “Love and Romance Celebration” cruise with Princess Cruises’ Love Ambassador and bridal fashion icon Randy Fenoli. During the cruise there will be special events featuring the bridal icon, including tips for how to choose the right wedding dress and the debut of the “Randy” cocktail.

Largest-Ever Princess Cruise Ship Out of Texas Begins Sailings

Known for its history, beaches and outdoor adventures, Galveston is truly a gem in Texas. The Strand Historical District is the town’s prime shopping spot, where 19th-century storefronts now house a quirky collection of locally owned gift shops and antique stores. Here you can pick up beachwear, whimsical gifts, model ships, used books, Southwestern turquoise jewelry, and Texas-inspired home décor.

In January 2014, the port signed a 5-year agreement with Royal Caribbean, generating USD 1,86+ million in annual revenues. The agreement required improvements to be made to Cruise Terminal 2 (Terminal 28) to accommodate larger vessels and more tourists. Terminal 2's size was increased to 150,000 ft2 / 13,940 m2 (passenger capacity up to 1000) at the cost of USD 10M. For the most part, the top decks of Regal Princess only offer pools, whirlpools and sunning areas, as is typical for Princess ships. As a result, it draws far fewer families than the vessels above and caters more to an older crowd of mostly couples.

Near the cruise port are the lots of EZ Cruise Parking, Galveston Park N Cruise, Falstaff Cruise Parking, Discount Cruise Parking. In 2023, the cruise port recorded 362 booked berthings (354 ship calls received) and ~42% increase in passengers (~2,98 million) over 2022. When completed, the newest/4th MSC Cruise Terminal is expected to generate an additional 925 jobs, ~US$177M in revenues, ~US$21M in local purchases. It’s time to reset adventure to a whole new level on the biggest, boldest ship to ever sail from Texas — Harmony of the Seas®. And when the sun goes down, the night heats up with AquaTheater spectaculars and the Broadway hit Grease.

It also has a sushi restaurant and a version of Carnival's Caribbean-inspired watering hole, RedFrog Pub. Disney Magic is also home to multiple pool areas and indoor children's zones that cover almost an entire deck, plus multiple themed restaurants that Disney fans will love. (In Disney Cruise Line tradition, passengers — and their waiters — rotate each night among three main restaurants.) The ship also has a large showroom for nightly Disney-themed shows.

Our advice to other travelers is, it will possibly be one of the most unique places you will ever visit and it is definitely worth the time and expense. Guests will first jet off to Mexico City for a three-night stay to explore its neighborhoods, landmarks (such as the floating gardens of Xochimilco and the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe), and beautiful architecture. Then, they will go to Hawaii and tour Honolulu and the Big Island in 48 hours. The air cruise continues in gorgeous Fiji for a Melanesian journey through its culture, customs, and picture-perfect landscapes.

Two nights stay with breakfast in Punta Arenas at the Cabo de Hornos Hotel or similar on day one and on the day of the scheduled return flight from Antarctica. Will we fly on airships or airplanes in a future of sustainable aviation? The answer will affect the direction of billions of dollars in future investments for aviation hardware and design. Airships are commonly compared to airplanes, probably because both are aerial vehicles. Airships are better compared to trains from a passenger’s perspective.

The IDF said 170 drones were fired at Israel from Iran, and Israeli Air Force jets shot down dozens of them. The child, from a Bedouin village in Israel's southern Negev desert, was still fighting for her life on Monday.

Parking Fees (garages and lots)The following rates are effective October 1, 2023, for guests who enter the port’s parking garages or lots. If convenience and time is a bigger factor then simply leaving your vehicle at the port itself makes more sense. As soon as your cruise is over you don’t have to wait for a shuttle and squeeze into a van with 10 other cruisers. Still, a 7 day cruise will cost about $120 since you have to include the extra day when you get off the ship. Terminal 29 does not have a dedicated parking lot, but a free shuttle service will transport travelers from Palm Parking Garage to the terminal directly.

Where is Port Everglades located?

The only garage option if that is important to you, but this is not guaranteed even at the price they charge. So you could pay top dollar and end up in the surface lot at either the northport or midport parking options. Many cruise lines offer wedding packages and ceremony options, including changing cruise ship accommodations. With beautiful ocean views and hassle-free planning, a cruise ship wedding can be a unique and memorable way to tie the knot.

Park by the Ports

The dramatic backdrop of Mount Liamuiga and the 17th-century fortress on St. Kitts add a touch of history to wedding ceremonies. The iconic Pitons mountains provide a stunning backdrop for capturing unforgettable wedding photos. Rising majestically from the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, these twin volcanic peaks are a symbol of St. Lucia’s natural beauty. Yes, there are special perks and group discounts available for large groups on the cruise. It’s worth contacting the cruise line to inquire about these benefits and enjoy discounted cabin bookings and drink packages.

Another advantage of off-site parking is the availability of free shuttle services to the port. Park by the Ports, Park N Go, and Tropical Airport Parking all offer free shuttle rides, making it convenient for passengers to reach their cruise terminal. On the other hand, the official port parking does not provide shuttle services, so passengers would need to arrange their own transportation.

Wheelchair and Accessibility at Port Everglades

When you arrive, our staff will gladly check you in and direct you to a parking space. Our friendly staff is on hand to help with unloading and loading your luggage as well. Here at Park By The Ports FLL, we want to ensure our parking fulfills all of our client’s needs. Including the parking process before you leave and after you return. We partner with different facilities nationwide to provide you with tons of parking options and premium rates.

If booked online ahead of time, Park ‘N Go offers a discounted rate. In our search, we found rates of $12.00 per day, plus taxes and fees. However, it is still plenty close and offers both covered and uncovered parking for both airport and cruise passengers. Typical hotels contracted close to the Port – Embassy Suites, Renaissance, Rodeway Inn, etc. There are many others but those are typically further away such as in Dania Beach near I-95.

Firstly, it offers better value for money compared to surface lots and off-site parking options. Drive up to the Terminal and hand your luggage to the porters then drive out to the parking lot (or Palm parking garage) and walk back. Some parking lots will have discounted prices when you stay for 7 days or longer. Our best parking price is the price available through the online booking. Once you have secured and purchased your online reservation, please have the confirmation ready on the day of your trip.

Instead, they have agreements with local hotels, parking facilities, and transport companies to sell parking spaces/transfers online – often at a discount to the consumer. Most of these Fort Lauderdale cruise parking lots are open 24/7, but please check the lot pages to discover shuttle service times. For a taste of what Rio is like during the annual Carnival, La Lapa is a good start. Head for the hills — or mountains, to be precise — that surround Rio's picturesque waterfront neighborhoods. Get a bus to the base station of the Corcovado funicular railway, which takes you to the base of Rio's "world wonder" Christ the Redeemer statue.

You can relax on the beach or join in the fun and dance to the tunes of the Samba, Jazz or Bossa Nova and know that there is no place on earth like Rio – as the locals or “Cariocas” will delight in telling you. Rio de Janeiro is one of the most visited cities in South America, famous for its hot, tropical climate, its beaches, and its steamy annual Carnival. In 2016, Rio hosted the Summer Olympics, bringing international attention to the city once again. Historically, Rio was occupied by the Portuguese in the 15th century, forever changing the landscape. Before the Portuguese arrived, the indigenous Guarani and Tupi were living in the area for centuries. People living in Rio are known as “Cariocas,” and they take pride in their city.

São Paulo is a vast metropolis and a fascinating melting pot of cultures. You’ll hear Japanese, Arabic, and Italian spoken, as well as Portuguese. Visit the incredible Museum of Art of São Paulo, packed with priceless masterpieces, and tour the Catedral da Sé, one of the world’s largest neo-Gothic churches.

Designed with an unwavering commitment to safety and excellence that ensures the highest international safety standards, Scenic Eclipse features customized stabilizers that provide greater stability as it navigates the waters. A GPS Dynamic Positioning System also enables the Discovery Yacht to maintain location without dropping anchor on sensitive seabeds. Within Tijuca National Park, outdoorists and hikers can’t miss the chance to hike Corcovado, also known as the “humpback” mountain.

Take your time enjoying all of the exhibits, but make sure to visit the one dedicated to Francisco José do Naciomento — a local merchant whose refusal to participate in the slave trade contributed to its eventual end. For an unforgettable view, take a cable car up to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain. It’s a must-do in Rio for a sighting of Christ the Redeemer glittering in the distance. Get there earlier in the morning to avoid crowds, or plan to go around dusk to experience the beautiful sunset. You can’t miss Rio’s instantly recognizable monument of Christ the Redeemer, which has been immortalized in photography, film, and popular culture as a symbol of the city. At 125 feet tall, the statue provides a protective, watchful eye over Rio.

Stop at any of the restaurants along Fortaleza's beaches for a lunch of lobster, crab or fresh fish caught daily from the waters of the North Atlantic. Then for dinner, visit restaurants within the city center to dine on classics that illuminate broader Brazilian culinary culture. Choose a churrascaria for tender, grilled meats served on demand, or scarf down a sumptuous plate of feijoada bean stew if you happen to be visiting on Sunday, the only day it's usually served. This spectacular city is famous for the four-day festival Carnaval, yet there is so much more to see - the lush landscapes, the Brazilian food and Samba!

Rio hosted the 2016 Olympic Games, and it renovated many parts of the port to prepare for an influx of international athletes and tourists. Most travelers don’t linger in port, but use the pier as a jumping-off point for boat rides to Ipanema or before heading into town for lunch and shopping. From the outstretched arms of Christ the Redeemer to the famous beach of Ipanema, the city of Rio de Janeiro has no shortage of iconic sights for you to enjoy on a South America cruise. Brazil has one of the most exciting cultures on earth, whether you’re captivated by sultry samba, the dazzling drama of Carnival, or acrobatic capoeira shows. Eating After a Dentist Cleaning: Uncover the Hidden Truths!

After a dental cleaning, it is generally recommended to wait at least 30 minutes before eating or drinking anything. This allows the fluoride from the toothpaste and the anesthetic from the numbing agent to wear off completely. Eating or drinking too soon after a cleaning can interfere with the effectiveness of these treatments and can cause discomfort.

There are a few exceptions to this rule. If you have had a deep cleaning or other more extensive procedure, your dentist may recommend waiting longer before eating. They will give you specific instructions on when it is safe to eat and drink.

Unveiling the Secrets of Dental Charting: Discoveries and Insights

Dental charting, also known as odontogram, is the process of recording the dental condition of a patient's teeth and surrounding tissues. Charting is an essential part of the dental examination, as it provides a visual representation of the patient's oral health and helps the dentist to develop an appropriate treatment plan.

Dental charts are typically created using a standardized set of symbols and abbreviations. These symbols represent different types of and restorations, as well as the presence of decay, periodontal disease, and other oral health conditions. The chart also includes information about the patient's medical history, such as allergies to medications and previous dental work.
